The week that started with Trump declaring the Iran ceasefire over ends with one of the most significant inflation prints of 2026. June CPI came in at -0.3% month-over-month - below the -0.2% consensus, and June PPI matched at -0.3% month-over-month. Oil's collapse from $126 to $78 is finally showing up in the data - and if that number holds, BofA's three-hike thesis just took a serious hit. The September rate hike is no longer a foregone conclusion.

The Iran situation escalated dramatically mid-week. The US launched airstrikes on around 90 Iranian targets after Trump said the fragile ceasefire was over following Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran retaliating by striking targets in US-allied Middle East countries. Markets shrugged it off and rose anyway - the S&P gained 0.81% and the Nasdaq climbed 1.30% Thursday as investors set aside jitters and focused on AI prospects. The market's geopolitical immunity is becoming a feature, not a bug.

Today is SK Hynix's Nasdaq debut - 7x oversubscribed, $26.5 billion, the largest ADR offering in market history. How it trades today sets the tone for the entire semiconductor sector heading into bank earnings Tuesday. Bitcoin ended the week up 4.2% to nearly $64,000, with analysts noting that nothing crypto-native drove the move - it absorbed an oil shock, a bond selloff, a hawkish Fed repricing, and two rounds of US strikes on Iran, and finished higher because Korean memory chips are in demand and the dollar is losing ground.

Belovy's ETH Short: A Calculated Bet Against the Second-Largest Crypto

While most traders are watching Bitcoin, Belovy just opened a short on Ethereum - and the setup is backed by some of the most bearish structural data ETH has seen in years.

The setup:

  • Coin: ETH Short (20x leverage, cross)

  • Entries: $2,200 - $1,751 (current market price)

  • Targets: $1,720 → $1,610 → $1,540 → $1,390 → $1,230 → $1,100

  • Stop Loss: Daily candle close above $2,400

  • Notes: Swing trade. 0.5% entry 1, 0.5% entry 2, 2% DCA point

Why ETH, Why Now

ETH just closed three consecutive red quarters for the first time in its history - down 28.28% in Q4 2025, 29.26% in Q1 2026, and 24.77% in Q2 2026. That has never happened before in Ethereum's dataset going back to 2016.

The structural picture backs the short. ETH has lost three major support levels - $2,375, $2,175, and $1,925 - and each one has flipped to resistance. Active addresses are down 46% since February's peak. Spot ETH ETFs recorded net outflows through all of June. BTC dominance is sitting near 56%, suppressing capital rotation into altcoins. The 50-day EMA at $1,802 is acting as a ceiling on every bounce attempt.

The macro case is equally uncomfortable for ETH bulls. A hawkish Fed, persistent inflation, and a dollar that refuses to collapse are all conditions historically associated with capital sitting in BTC or cash rather than flowing into altcoins. ETH has underperformed Bitcoin for three straight quarters. Until that changes, the path of least resistance is lower.

The stop at $2,400 keeps the risk defined and clean. The targets cascade all the way to $1,100 for anyone with the patience to hold. The trade is not a flip - it's a swing position with room to DCA.
