What a 48-hour stretch. Microsoft surged 16% Thursday - adding $450 billion in market cap in a single session, the biggest single-day gain by any stock in history - after Azure delivered exactly the AI revenue the market had been demanding all earnings season. The Nasdaq jumped 3.4% and the Dow surged 614 points, erasing Wednesday's brutal -1,153 point Fed selloff in one afternoon. The AI trade is back on.

The wild swing around it tells the whole story of this month. Wednesday the Fed held rates at 3.50-3.75% but Warsh struck a hawkish tone, sending the Dow down 1,153 points - its worst single day since April 2025 - while the semiconductor index fell another 5.3% for its fifth consecutive losing session. Then Microsoft reported and everything reversed. PCE inflation for June came in cooler than expected at 3.6% vs the 4.1% prior reading - the oil collapse showing up in the data - and now September rate hike odds stand at 63% as Warsh weighs cooling PCE against persistent labour strength.
